We got to know more about Adriana and Christopher than just about any other couple we have photographed other than my daughter’s Rebecca’s wedding two years ago.
We first met at West Point back in March at the first interview. We took some quick pictures then to just get a view. Then we had a well planned photo session in Central Park, NYC in May and finally the wedding rehearsal dinner Fri. night and the wedding the next day. So that’s four different views of them.
The first view was charming and cute. Adriana had flown in for the weekend so they we in a great mood. However, discussing wedding plans with the photographer (in this case) usually puts the couple in an awkward position since they have to discuss details of the wedding day which the groom never thinks about and the bride has been planning for years? But,….. they handled it very well.
We then sent a lot of e-mails and phone calls to confirm the location, date, time and wardrobe for the “prewedding” shoot. Finally, we chose Central Park on what turned out to be a drizzly day. It stopped raining when we were taking pictures and restarted when we finished and had lunch at the Boat House in The Park. I love the pictures from that day because they really show a young couple in love playing in The Park. Ask Adriana or Christopher about seeing those pictures.
Then we went to West Point Fri afternoon to photograph the rehearsal in the church and the rehearsal dinner thereafter at the “49’s Club” The rehearsal was fun because the priest was very detailed and thorough. He was somewhat intimidating but very nice and helpful in the end. Adriana had planned a more involved ceremony that included some traditional elements. Also the cadets were there practicing the sword ceremony.
The best part was the dinner. The food was great but more importantly it was really a family dinner well represented on both sides. It was an opportunity to meet each others’ family members and spend some quality and fun time together. It was the first time we had photographed an event like this. It gives a more candid view.
We stayed over that night to be ready for the wedding on Saturday.
The weather was great. Warm, sunny, clear skies…a great day for a wedding. Everything went perfectly !
The pictures really tell the story better than words so take a LOOK at the gallery and ad your comments to the gallery blog.
Thanks
Paul and Nestor
